An Analysis of Backlinks for your own site or a rival

Provide a domain or a page URL and receive three things at once: a statistical digest of the link profile, a list of the authoritative backlinks, and the most frequent anchor texts. Its data is complete for the .ir extension too.

  • The most frequent anchors
  • Handles .ir domains too

Run the tool right here on the page

Enter a domain or page URL and see who linked to it, with which anchor text, at what spam level, and with how much authority.

  • What it costs $0.15
  • Data source DataForSEO

For the whole domain, enter just the domain name; for one specific page, provide that page's full URL.

The short answer

A backlink is a link another site hands you, and it is still among the strongest signals Google uses to estimate a page's authority. What really drives the decisions in this report is the spam score and the anchor text, not the total link count.

Anchor text, the words the link sits under, tells Google what the target page is about; that far it is useful. Trouble begins when a large share of the anchors is exactly the target keyword, because that pattern does not occur naturally: somebody linking of their own accord usually writes the brand name, the site URL, or a phrase like here. Open the frequent-anchor list and see whether the shape is natural or built.

In the Iranian market, the spam-score column gets the most use. Sites in the link-selling business often show acceptable authority but a high spam score, because they have linked to anyone who paid. A link from such a domain is at best inert and at worst damaging, and the money is spent either way.

Do not put too much weight on the dofollow and nofollow column. A healthy profile holds both, because a real site also collects links from social networks and forums, and those are nofollow. A profile that is a hundred percent dofollow looks more built than natural to Google.

The output you receive

The exact meaning of each output column. Read this before your first run so you do not misread a value.

Domain authority
A value between 0 and 100 rescaled from DataForSEO's internal 0-to-1000 scale; this is DataForSEO's measure, not Google's.
Spam score
DataForSEO's estimate of how spammy that domain or link is, on a 0-to-100 range; it is the provider's estimate, not Google's.
Dofollow/nofollow
Whether the link carries SEO authority, that is dofollow, or does not, that is nofollow with rel set to nofollow, sponsored or ugc.
First seen date
The first occasion DataForSEO's crawler observed this link; the date can fall later than when the link was actually created.

The data source and method

Three distinct calls, a summary plus up to 100 highest-authority backlinks and up to 50 frequent anchors, are combined into a single run. If any of them fails, the full amount is refunded and no partial result is ever displayed.

The situations where it helps

Before you begin link building, to gauge the health of your own backlink profile, or to learn where a competitor sources its links.

Where it falls short

No tool holds every backlink of a site, this one included. What you see is what the provider's crawler has found up to now, and new links usually surface with a lag. So use the figures to weigh two domains at one moment, not as a full count. The second limit is conceptual: a link missing from this list is no proof it does not exist, and a link being in it is no proof Google counts it. Google itself decides which links to count and publishes that decision nowhere.

A lesson from working with it

Three distinct calls are combined into one run, and if any of them fails the entire charge is refunded and no partial result is shown at all. We built it this way deliberately, because a backlink report with an empty anchor section is the worst possible state: it looks as though the site has no anchor diversity when the data simply did not arrive, and somebody then makes a link-building call on that basis.

What it costs

Price per run $0.15

There is no monthly subscription. You raise the wallet balance, and the price of each run is written on the button before you press it; without a run there is no deduction.

Common questions about this tool

How many backlinks do I need?

There is no number. The right question is how many referring domains the competitor above you has, and of what kind. So run this next to the domain analysis and set the two profiles side by side, rather than chasing a target figure.

Are nofollow links worth anything?

Yes, though not in the way people usually picture. They pass no direct authority, but they bring real traffic, put the brand in front of people and keep the link profile natural. A site with only dofollow links carries an unnatural pattern.

What should I do about spam links?

If you did not buy them yourself, usually nothing. Google has been discounting worthless links on its own for years. Action is justified only when there is a large volume of purchased links and you have also seen a ranking drop; even then the first step is removing those links, not merely filing a disavow.

This page in the Seemerce family

The links pointing at a domain, with anchor text and authority.

One rule throughout: See fuses onto a word and makes a single new one, never two words side by side. Exactly as See and commerce became Seemerce.
