The short answer
Domain authority is a value from 0 to 100 estimating how much trusted linking a domain carries relative to others. It is not a Google figure and Google publishes no authority score whatsoever; it is a metric that data providers build so two domains can be set side by side.
This number suits relative comparison, not target setting. Getting my authority to 50 is a hollow phrase, since no action touches the number directly; you act on the links and the number merely reflects that. By contrast, the competitor leading this keyword has double my authority is a sentence that leads straight to a concrete plan.
In real work the referring-domain count carries more weight than total backlinks, and the gap between the two is itself a signal. A thousand backlinks from ten domains is ten votes, not a thousand, and usually points to one footer or sidebar link. A hundred backlinks from eighty separate domains, even at the lower total, is a healthier profile.
When buying a second-hand domain, review this output alongside the WHOIS profile. High authority paired with a young age is almost always the trace of purchased links; an old age next to authority near zero means nobody has linked to it in years, which is not a bad starting point but adds nothing for you either.
The output you receive
The exact meaning of each output column. Read this before your first run so you do not misread a value.
- Domain authority
- A value between 0 and 100, rescaled from DataForSEO's internal 0-to-1000 scale.
- Google organic coverage
- The count of keywords this domain ranks for on google.com in the US market; for most Iranian sites the column stays empty, which is a known limitation of the provider.
The data source and method
The data arrives from two paths: backlinks summary, which always responds, and DataForSEO Labs domain_rank_overview, which covers only the US market and google.com, because Labs does not yet include Iran.
The situations where it helps
When you need a fast read on the SEO position of a domain, your own or a rival's, before committing to a partnership or a contest.
Where it falls short
The Google organic reach column comes back empty for most Iranian sites, and we say that up front. That figure comes from a database covering only the US market and google.com, and Iran is not in it; empty means we have no data, not zero. The other two figures, authority and backlinks, do work for Iranian domains. The second limitation is conceptual: none of these numbers are Google numbers and none of them guarantee a ranking. A domain with lower authority can outrank a higher one with better content that matches search intent more closely, and in Persian results that happens often.
A lesson from working with it
On Persian projects we have seen again and again that the authority gap does not explain the order of results. The reason is that in many Persian queries the link competition is less fierce than in English-speaking markets, and a page that answers exactly that question rises more easily. So if your authority is below a competitor's, you are not necessarily losing; but if your content is weaker as well, then the authority number is only confirming something that was already plain.
What it costs
There is no monthly subscription. You raise the wallet balance, and the price of each run is written on the button before you press it; without a run there is no deduction.
Common questions about this tool
Is domain authority a Google metric?
No. Google publishes no public authority score at all. Any figure carrying that label is constructed by a data provider and is meaningful only for comparing two domains, never as a grade Google gave you.
How do I raise my domain authority?
There is no direct route. The number results from the links other sites hand you. What works is making something worth linking to, then putting it in front of people able to link. Buying links shifts the number without shifting the ranking, and the risk sits with you.
Does it work for .ir domains?
For authority and backlinks, yes. The organic reach column is usually empty, since its source excludes Iran.
