What Aparat actually is

Aparat is a video sharing platform that has operated since 2010. With no official YouTube access in Iran, it became the main outlet for uploading and watching Persian video, and many news, education and entertainment channels publish there alongside other platforms.

What you pay and how it earns

Watching is free, and the platform earns from pre-roll and mid-content ads. A paid, ad-free tier is not widely available to the general public, unlike the Filimo or Namava model.

Where it is strong

The volume and variety of Persian content, especially education and news, is its main strength. Being free and VPN-free also keeps it accessible to a wide range of users.

How it can improve, and what could not be verified

Playback quality and load speed are widely reported as weaker than YouTube, and the ad load bothers many users. No official figures on active users or daily uploads were available, and none are claimed in this review.

Questions about Aparat

Is Aparat a full replacement for YouTube?

Largely yes for Persian content, but its playback quality and international catalog do not match YouTube.

Does Aparat have a paid, ad-free tier?

Unlike Filimo or Namava, a general paid ad-free subscription is not common on Aparat.

Is uploading on Aparat free for everyone?

Yes, anyone can create a channel and upload for free, subject to the platform's content rules.
